6/1/09: Based on the Kathy Schrock Website evaluation, please find below three recommended websites for teacher's/parent's and three for students with a blog on why I recommend each of them them.

Cool Math for Kids

This website is very beneficial for elementary students who want to practice their math skills by playing games and solving different math problems. The website has a lot of big pictures with bright colors which help attract the younger students. The website is set up so that it is very easy for students to browse the different contents on the page.

 

Poptropica Funbrain

I highly recommend this websites to elementary students who either need help with math homework assignments or are just looking to play fun math games to better their knowledge.  The website provides the students with an image map making it easy for the students to navigate from page to page. The website had a ton of pictures but it took just seconds to load.

 

123 Number Fun

I suggest that students use this website to play games which will improve their math skills at school. This website provides the students with different interactive activities which they can use just for fun or for help on a homework assignment. The website loaded in no time and was updates just 3 days ago so all the information is current.

 

Cool Math 4 Parents

This website was one of my favorite websites for parents of elementary math students. I found it has extremely helpful information on helping your child with math homework.  This website also provides the parents with links to tips on homework and preparing for the next school year, fun activities and games for home, and other outside resources.  The website loads fast and is set up in a way were it is easy to navigate through the pages.  

 

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

This website is very helpful for teachers and/or parents of Elementary math students. The website is very organized so that it is easy to find your way around the pages and it loaded in no time.  The website also provides you with links to lesson plans, conference schedules, and other useful resources.  The authors contact information is posted at the bottom of each page.

 

At home with Math

I highly recommend parents to visit this website with their children for help on math homework. The website is available in both English and Spanish.  It gives parents ideas for at home activities which will help their child understand math better. The website has useful information and is set up so that it is very easy for parents to browse through the different contents on the page.
